I asked about whether there was any known problem which could have made
squid on one of our servers lock up waiting in mcpl.
I can post as much of these outputs as needed
As it doesn't seem to be a known problem, here come said outputs (attached)

I hope one of these outputs contains a clue to what's going wrong.

I think you're just hitting the mclpl limit. bump it (sysctl
kern.mbuf.nmbclusters).
