[SoC '07] Minimal DHCP Client Question

Hello everybody, I suppose I should start this off with a short
introduction. My name is John and I'm working on my third year of
college studying Computer Science. I was a high school student and
GNU/Linux user who found NetBSD about 4 years ago and have been hooked
ever since.

With that out of the way, I was checking out the list of NetBSD's
proposed projects for Google's SoC and the DHCP client with minimal
size and functionality caught my eye. I think that it would be
something fun to do and also give me a chance to play NetBSD's kernel
and userland a little (something that I've always wanted to do). Plus
I would love to be able to give back to such a great O.S.

Anyways, I don't have any NetBSD kernel coding experience (besides
looking at it) and very little network programming experience (I've
messed around with sockets on Linux), but I do have a very good
understanding of C and am a very quick learner. With that said, do you
think that with my current skills I could finish a project like this
in the allotted time frame?

Thanks a lot!

I think you should be able to (from how you describe yourself).

Concur.

Actually, *with your current skills*, I'm not sure you could finish the
job at all. But as you describe yourself, I'd say you will be able to
pick up the necessary additional skills and polish it off just fine.
